Celebrate 40 Years By Donating to CCA

Yikes! That’s a lot of Kara.
Turning 40 this year is something else. I cannot believe I have been on the planet for 40 years. Crazy!
As many of you know, I was born with a facial difference called bilateral cleft lip and palate. I have had many surgeries and medical procedures over the course of my life due to this genetic condition. My life has been great. In the beginning, my parents had a group called Prescription Parents, which they attended to learn more about clefting and raising a baby with this facial difference. Then the Foundation for Faces of Children became a force in our lives, building up my self esteem, and our love for one another as a family. Today, I have both the foundation and Children’s Craniofacial Association (CCA) which are important nonprofits in my life. I help them because they help me. I use active verbs because both will always be part of my life.
If you could, would you mind donating to my Facebook fundraiser for CCA? I have set a ridiculously high goal for myself, but I guess its just my nonstop optimism in the face of adversity rearing its annoying head again. Donate today so kids can get the life-saving surgeries they need to live productive lives. Donate today so we can continue to change the world with our school curriculum packages for teachers and students. And finally, donate today so we can continue our 30 year tradition of creating safe spaces for kids to come together that have facial differences and know they are not alone. No one wants to feel alone!
It is an honor and a privilege to live the life.  It is also an honor to do this work for this charity during these turbulent times. As hokey as it sounds, our message of acceptance of all differences gives me hope for the future of this country and the world. Will you help me spread that message? $2, $5, or $10 could make a huge difference. Be the change!
